Tuning

$225

The expert adjustment of pitch, typically tuned to the standard pitch of A-440.

Tunings take 1.5 to 2 hours.

As a former concert pianist, I aim to make your piano sound performance or recording ready, and to have it be stable for at least six months.

I spend about the same amount of time on a piano regardless of whether it needs a pitch raise or not. If the piano has been tuned regularly, I am able to spend more time fine-tuning it and locking-in its stability; I’ve found this process is best achieved in the 1.5 to 2 hour range.

When a piano requires a pitch-raise, the time taken to do the pitch-raise replaces the time spent doing extra fine-tuning. However, a piano needing a pitch-raise will not be as stable and will tend to shift out of tune faster, so taking additional time to attempt extra fine-tuning in the same session is not as effective as booking several regularly spaced (6-months apart) tunings to increase its stability. As its stability increases, the time I can spend perfecting the tuning increases as well, making your piano sound better and better.
